Eagle CO 3/21/17 - Spotting Bucket List Item

During a recent trip to Colorado I was fortunate enough to not break anything and had a free afternoon to make it out to Eagle County Regional Airport to check an item off the spotting bucket list. Flying in and out of Eagle for vacation was rather fun, as the approach path flies down the valley and...

Re: Rhode Island Airshow & Open House (Quonset Point)

Thanks Ricky! It helps to have nearly perfect light all weekend and plenty of opportunities to get the shot!

Rhode Island Airshow & Open House (Quonset Point)

My best show of 2016 from a weather and photography perspective had to be Quonset Point. Despite the conspicuous absence of the Thunderbirds (the show was right after Tuna's ejection/crash) the show was rather successful, and it gave me an opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at the 2016 US N...

Ft. Lauderdale Airshow

Despite an uncooperative FAA representative, the pilots did their best to put on a show on the waterfront in Ft. Lauderdale. The 500' line had to have been at least 1,500' off shore, and made for some tricky photography conditions. Some of my favorite photos ended up coming from the Thunderbirds tak...

Re: Radio Scanners For Airshows

While it's missing the upper portion of the MilAir band (380-400), I've found my Uniden Bearcat BC-125AT to be reliable, particularly with the Diamond RH77 antenna.

It's a shame the light was flat, but it's certainly a cool batch of photos.

Red Bull Air Race Ascot 2016

As part of a trip to England, I spent three days at the Royal Ascot Racecourse covering the UK's leg of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship for NYCAviation. https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8009/29445161886_6458b31f17_c.jpg RF50 by Mark Kolanowski , on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/8/7771/294...

Re: Selfridge ANGB Air Show & Open House: Celebrating 100 Years of Selfridge

This one looks really good. Interested to see what Lewis Air Legends is bringing ... guessing P-38 since Selfridge is in the running to get the F-35. A F-35/P-38 display on the tarmac would be a heck of a promotion! Good thinking, it will be interesting to see the details. I doubt they would send t...

Re: How Many Airshows Are You Attending In 2017?

Good luck with the new forum project Ryan and the rest of the team!

I'm thinking of hitting the following shows this year:

Quonset Point, RI
Barnes/Westfield. MA
Selfridge ANGB, MI
AOPA Fly-In, CT
