Re: 2017 Abbotsford International Airshow

Keep in mind that each aircraft counts as one (remember the F-15 and A-10 left on the hot side last year) so perhaps they will just have multiple types in the static this year to make up the number.

Unfortunately, I don't think that is in the cards. I'm not going to get into specifics but needless to say my days of volunteering are over. Now I just enjoy the show with the rest of the paying customers.

Finally, on a side note: I did notice on the FB page that the Blue Angels are scheduled to be here in 2018. That will be a welcome return, assuming they still have enough functional aircraft to perform by then!
For 2018 their performance will probably be a solo display with 7 spares. :)

Re: 2017 Abbotsford International Airshow

Weren't you the original webmaster Chris? I think we need to start a petition to bring you back! Yes indeed. For many years...I originally volunteered to do it back around 2000 when the web site was in rough shape. My goal was always for it to be current and accurate. Not sure what happened but thi...

Re: 2017 Abbotsford International Airshow

There has been a small update on the site in regards to statics. Notable aircraft include a Chilean Air Force Bell412 helo, Royal Air Force C-130J and it appears the Dutch are bringing their beautifully painted F-16 Solo Demo jet. Not sure at this point if it will be flying, but it is worthy to not...

Re: 2017 Abbotsford International Airshow

That being said I'm hoping anyone here can clear up something for me regarding the F-35. The F-35 is listed under Performers on the official website, but if I click "F-35 FAQ" it seems to state that it will only be a static participant. It seems contradictory and I'm obviously hoping to s...

Re: 2017 Abbotsford International Airshow

Did not know about time in 2000. Do you know what's been to Abby once and know of a place I can find out? I'm not aware of any source that can tell you that information. I'm just going off my own memories, having been to the Airshow since 1979 and I have also done a lot of historic work related to ...

Sorry to shoot down your guess again, but German Tornados have been to Abbotsford twice - 1997 and 2000. Keep guessing! :?

MiG-29s have been to Abbotsford twice. USSR in 1989 and Ukraine in 1992. But the MiG-31 has only been once ;)
