Great photos, Aaron!

It's funny, but I didn't notice that Fat Albert wasn't there on Saturday until the next day. I completely forgot that it had been grounded throughout much of the airshow season. Glad I didn't stick around since it didn't fly.

I heard they are planning to bring the show back every 2-3 years. I'll definitely make plans to go to the next one. It was a fun weekend!

Probably the last few I'll post. Looking forward to seeing more pics and video!

Well it turned out to be an amazing weekend. From a personal standpoint, I don't think I've ever gotten as much assistance or cooperation from a show, and with the layout challenges it proved crucial to getting very much at all. I was thrilled to get a media ride with Tora on Friday, access to just about anywhere we needed, a ride with the jumpers on the C-47 Sunday morning, and a spot in the Tora pyro field to watch most of the show with the sun at our backs. I very very very much appreciate everyone who helped us out!

We still found some limitations on what we could get (partly physical limits with the damn heat and the layout!) but for a 'first year' show we came out spectacularly. I can't say enough how much I'm looking forward to coming back with a better understanding of how they run things so that we can do even better next time.

On the topic of the normal crowd experience, I really feel bad for both sides because there were no winners. The people accusing the show of stealing their money don't understand how badly it would have gone had they parked in the mud. On the other hand, paying money for tickets and not being able to get to the event at all due to full parking lots isn't quite fair. I think all shows need to really push in their marketing that people need to get there EARLY. Idiots try to pull in an hour before the Blues fly and can't see them.

I do think this show needs to raise the rates for chalets because there were way too many tents. Honestly given the heat and tempers to match from overcrowding and other issues, I'm surprised some of the chalets (most with about 10 people in them) weren't stormed by a mob. I know my parents had a less than fantastic experience but I think (hope) many of the kinks can be worked out as long as the same group handles the next show. In the end I think they got about twice as many people as they were adequately prepared for, and everyone suffered as a result. Not shocking for a first-ish year show.
