Terre Haute Air Show '18
For what it's worth, here's a look at the show area from today. The general admission area isn't as far from center as I thought, but it is pretty far from end to end!

Parking line is already backed up to the 42/46 intersection. If you’re coming to the Terre Haute air show, I’d get here sooner than later. That parking release seemed to scare people.

Any update on parking for tomorrow? I was planning on driving from Dayton, but their Facebook page is making it sound like Armageddon. I would be arriving by 8am. Thanks, Dan.

From what I've been hearing, most of the normal parking should be open tomorrow so that should help. I did not deal with it today thankfully, but I'm sure the earlier the better. There was a lengthy backup at 730 today but they did start letting people park at 8 to bring the lines down.
I have now walked the entire showline, and the only GA area is at the far right. The Blue Angels are parked at show center and block a lot of the view of the runway if you sit anywhere else.
I'll try to post the schedule from the briefing tomorrow! Dave and I are hoping to go up with the first parachute jump in the C-47 - please get some photos if it does a flyby!

If you're there by 8am, you should be fine. We got in line for parking about 8:40 and, while it was backed up a ways, we had our chairs set up on the flightline by 9:45. According to this news update, they expect 80 percent of the field parking to be usable tomorrow:

My guess is that parking will be much easier tomorrow.
There were A LOT of unhappy people today. I wonder if a lot of it was just ignorance in thinking they could drive right in at noon for a Blue Angels show. That's never going to happen. That being said, the parking situation didn't do anyone any favors. It's really too bad. I feel for the people who put so much work into the show to have the weather crap on the airport all week. It's not like they could have realistically had a bus company and remote lots on stand-by ($$$$) on the off-chance that the parking lots would get rained on that much. I hope the feedback doesn't affect future plans, because it really was a great airshow today.
The flying itself was fantastic today. About five hours of airshow flying for an advance ticket that cost me only $10 and no parking fee. Incredible value for what was there today. Schedule ended up being a little different from what Ryan posted, but all of the aircraft listed were there except the Corsair. We sat in the GA section and had good views of all the flying, plus takeoffs and landings. Wish there was GA at the other end near the hot ramp. Not a lot of photo opps for the type of shooting I like to do, but I think I might have gotten some runway shots that will be ok with cropping. If not, I'll just enjoy what others post.
I'm going to go back tomorrow in hopes of getting in a little earlier and will probably leave before the Blues fly.

Sorry The caveat was that the jets might get pushed back due to the clouds and that's what happened. Hopefully the weather cooperates a little more tomorrow and it goes to plan.kalamazookid wrote: ↑Sun Aug 19, 2018 2:07 am Schedule ended up being a little different from what Ryan posted, but all of the aircraft listed were there except the Corsair.

Wasn't meant as a complaint! Just wanted to comment that the schedule was close in case anyone was basing their decision for Sunday off of this.RyanS wrote: ↑Sun Aug 19, 2018 2:30 amSorry The caveat was that the jets might get pushed back due to the clouds and that's what happened.
