Looking very forward to this formation!
2018 is sure to appeal to the jet enthusiasts with The Blue Angels, Snowbirds, T-33, A-10, CF-18's, F-15's and F-16's all flying.
Almost 1 month till show time!

I see, thanks!AirshowHawk wrote: ↑Fri Jul 06, 2018 5:05 amTo my knowledge the Grandstand will be set up in the center, right on top of the paved area that at one point hosted the light static area.
I would agree, and that was my worry regarding my usual Runway Seating views. Should be okay as it looks like the grandstand itself will be back from the very front where they have more traditional seating setup.Chris Smallenberg wrote: ↑Fri Jul 06, 2018 4:12 pm Based on that image of the show site, it would appear that the grandstand, which is advertised as 3 storeys tall, will significantly block the sightlines from the general admission viewing area as aircraft approach from the side.
The NORAD formation is really something! Good job air show! Keep it coming!

Who still remembers the post from a few months ago when they acknowledged Airbus was a sponsor of the show and commented saying that they were working on Fly-bys and statics?

The A 400 fits this description quite nicely

So...extremely happy with the NORAD announcement: I'm quite certain I've never seen a CF-18/F-15/F-16 formation before. And this definitely qualifies for I mentioned in a previous post, wondering if there could be another military jet "demo" added.
On Abby's FB post, they say the 15s and 16s are USAF; I wonder if this means we're getting both USAF and USANG F-15s or just one of those?
Looking forward to any more additions to the static lineup, but I'm already very impressed with the show this year. As for wishful thinking, two for statics would include some sort of fighter accompanying the Luftwaffe 400 (maybe a Tornado?), and of course the annual wish for a US bomber of some sort (preferably the B-1B for me).
Five weeks to go..and counting.

I'd imagine the Portland F-15's are who they meant. The Facebook posts are for the General Public, who typically don't know the difference between USAF and USANG. As well, the Portland F-15's are scheduled to be the flypast aircraft at Cold Lake's NORAD flypast later this month...So it's safe to assume they'd be the same unit doing the flypast in Abbotsford.Frenetic Enigma wrote: ↑Sat Jul 07, 2018 1:37 am On Abby's FB post, they say the 15s and 16s are USAF; I wonder if this means we're getting both USAF and USANG F-15s or just one of those?
Happy to be wrong though!

Minnesota ANG F-16's are being used in Cold Lakes NORAD flypast to so would it be them coming to Abby or a different unit? It would makes sense if the same units/pilots flew in the NORAD flypast at both shows.Bingofuel wrote: ↑Sat Jul 07, 2018 2:44 pmI'd imagine the Portland F-15's are who they meant. Minnesota ANG F 16s would be nice to see. Don't think that they have ever been here and they have the Have Glass paint scheme which looks pretty sharp.

They are nice F-16's. Always a pleasure to see them however I'm not saying they're coming. I just meant that it would seem logical they come since they're already flying in a NORAD demo weeks before Abbotsford.

I wrote and asked Abby what bases will be in the NORAD flyby. They said the F-16's will be from Buckley and the F-15's will be from Portland.
