Abbotsford International Airshow 2018
The USN Super Hornet demo is done for the year already anyway. The best you could probably hope for would be something on static like London is getting.

I thought I read (perhaps incorrectly) that the USN Super Hornet would not attend the same show as the Blue Angels. Maybe that's only as a flying demo. As for the F-22 and F-35, the AIAS responded to a negative review on FB by stating they'd had both planes here in the past few years, and hoped to have them again sometime in the future. Sounds like that would rule them out, but again more than happy to be wrong.Frenetic Enigma wrote: ↑Sun Jul 22, 2018 9:15 amWhere and when have the USN Super Hornet, F-22 and F-35 been ruled out?theairshowdude wrote: ↑Sun Jul 22, 2018 6:42 am
The only candidates I can think of would be the USN Super Hornet, the F-22 and the F-35 - all of which, I believe, have been ruled out.
Besides those 3, other possibilities could be F-15E and T-38 not to mention a foreign that's based in the US.
Would love to see a foreign based in the US make an appearance, but previous comments on this thread seemed to suggest that was unlikely.
Again, I am hopeful for any and all surprises, and would love to be wrong on all of these, and see any to all of them at Abby this year.

That's just the TAC demo for the USN Super. Airshows will never give away something that could be coming so they deny it. The F-22 and F-35 are on the table until the show starts.

All valid and convincing points. I agree with 101voodoo: here's hoping for fighter week, and then maybe even heavies week? A couple of Super Hornets, and a Raptor or two would look fantastic on the statics list!
Also looking forward to seeing the retro Sea King, and definitely the new Cyclone. We have five helicopters on static already, and, of course, the Sea King SAR demo. Could there be a heavies/helicopter week? Anything else that could be added?
And to repeat: I am happy with the flying/statics as they stand now. Just getting greedy!

I think it was mentioned already by someone, but the B-17 will be arriving on Monday August 6 and will be available for tours throughout the week before the air show. According to the local paper also expect B-25 “Maid in the Shade” and a C-47/DC-3 Combat Legend “Old Number 30 on static.

Maid in the shade is in Quebec that weekend and the C 47 isn't scheduled to be anywhere so I wouldn't get my hopes up for those two.

Maybe they are in Abbotsford the week before the show for tours?
Read below:
https://abbynews.com/news/bomber-to-off ... -air-show/
"The plane will be arriving in Abbotsford ahead of the airshow, and will be available for tours starting Monday, Aug. 6. Tours will run 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday. During the air show, Friday to Sunday (Aug. 10-12), the plane will be available for tours. On Friday, they will run from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday tours will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Those tours will run $10 per person or $20 for a family of four, and will also offer a glance at two more historic aircraft — a B-25 Bomber “Maid in the Shade” and a C-47/DC-3 Combat Legend “Old Number 30.” During the airshow, the tour fee is waived."

It says that you can your the B 17 and it "offers a glance" at the other 2 all for $10:I hope I am wrong but it seems to be worded a bit misleading. According to the Commerative Warbirds site Maid in the Shade is on Que. Aug 10-12.

Yes after checking with the schedule, I too now feel it's just a wording issue. It wouldn't make too much sense for the B-25 to fly here if it's on the east coast at the moment anyways.
Guess we'll find out on August 6.

Great to hear that there will be 2 Sea Kings at abby. I also would like to see a fighter week and heavy week. Will be exciting to see what the next couple weeks bring.101voodoo wrote: ↑Sun Jul 22, 2018 1:12 pm
So, SAR Week is over, are we going to have fighter week and heavies week coming up? Fingers crossed.
Was talking with the Sea King crew at Boundary Bay yesterday and they told me that 2 aircraft are coming. The retro scheme is static and a grey bird is flying the demo. Their first Cyclone is being delivered at the beginning of August and that is what they are bringing to the show.

Looks like the C-17 demo at the Cold Lake Air Show was performed by the RCAF. I would imagine there's a decent chance they could be convinced to come perform at Abby as well. Although it is rather late to be announcing performers. We shall wait and see .
