Girls Fly Too was an amazing event. I am definitely not a girl but I feel like I almost had just as fun of a time as them!
I’m hoping next year there will be a dedicated thread to this event so that there isn’t any Abbotsford Airshow thread hijacking occurring but for the time being I feel this is the most appropriate place to discuss the event.
As I made my way to the airfield today for the event, I was blessed enough to catch the KC-10 taking off. I was definitely not prepared for that but what was even more shocking was the fact that it did a fly by! Now the thing is I was at such a bad vantage point that when it returned I couldn’t tell if it did a touch and go or just a fly past at low altitude but either way it was amazing seeing a KC-10 flying low for a pass here at CYXX because that doesn’t even seem to happen after the airshow!
For those of you who want to catch the heavy departures from this event, I’ve been told it may be wise to spot early morning if they have not already left yet.

Managed to make it out to the Abbotsford Airport this afternoon and snapped a few photos of the Girls Can Fly event. Was listening in on Tower and Ground ops and by all accounts it was a great success in part due to the sunny weather (last year it rained). They were thanking the pilots for volunteering their time and looking forward to another great time next year.

Nah it was nice to talk about and see some aircraft at YXX in the "off season"!AirshowHawk wrote: ↑Mon Mar 12, 2018 4:24 am I’m hoping next year there will be a dedicated thread to this event so that there isn’t any Abbotsford Airshow thread hijacking occurring but for the time being I feel this is the most appropriate place to discuss the event.

You can always start one! I think it was deserving of a thread.JA Boomer wrote: ↑Mon Mar 12, 2018 3:38 pmNah it was nice to talk about and see some aircraft at YXX in the "off season"!AirshowHawk wrote: ↑Mon Mar 12, 2018 4:24 am I’m hoping next year there will be a dedicated thread to this event so that there isn’t any Abbotsford Airshow thread hijacking occurring but for the time being I feel this is the most appropriate place to discuss the event.

Of course as a forum moderator, you could always split the thread and put the Girls Can Fly stuff / pics in their own thread and leave the Abbotsford Air show stuff in this one then everyone Happy Happy

I'm not too concerned with it at this point, just letting things run their course!
