This looks like a pretty good show. Anyone have any hints/experience with airshows at MacDill? I've never been, but may end up going.

Has anyone gone to the shows at MacDill AFB before? I'm concerned about traffic (since it's free, I know it will be crowded), since I saw some posts on their Facebook page about cars lining up as early as 6:30am (gates open at 8am). Yikes!

I would appreciate any advice/pointers/etc regarding this show. Thanks in advance!

Also if you are planning to attend today or tomorrow, get here early - took about 1:20 from when I first got in traffic at 8:15.

I was there today. Got to the MacDill Ave gate at about 7:30am and was parked, through security, and set up inside by 8:30. The statics were pretty good IMO, including a B-52, C-5 Galaxy, and AC-130. I wish the C-17 was parked next to the C-5 to see the size difference. The Galaxy dwarfed the B-52 that was next to it.

The flying was very good, and it no one seemed to have problems today. Haven't downloaded any pictures yet though. The setup/flightline and runway aren't ideal for shows, so that was disappointing. There are light poles in front of the flightline so the fliers were further away from the crowd than I'm used to (NAS JAX is ideal from my limited experience). I hope to be able to post some pics tomorrow.

Unfortunately they are really obsessed with showing their pre-produced B-roll footage of each act. Yesterday they hardly even showed the flying. Today seems a little better but it's still very annoying.
