HF added to Charleston, SC and Holloman added too. Stuart, FL airshow on Nov 3-4th. Symrna and Davenport (Quad Cities, IA) have canceled.

Never seen any USAF demo team using flares before! Very european-style demo from the Misawa F-16 Demo last week in New Zealand.

Holy crap! I've always heard the PACAF demo is better but that was great!

New Zealand Aerobatic display lines are also much closer to the crowd compared to Europe and North America.

Their regulations state any Flypast or Aerobatics beyond 250 Knots may be executed at as low as 100 feet, at a crowd distance of 220 Metres minimum, which is only around 700 feet. Almost twice as close for Aerobatics than Europe and NA.

In Britain, standard seperation is 230 metres - only ten more than New Zealand - unless energy is directed towards the crowd. And on top of that, certain venues and lighter aircraft often enjoy for sizable exemptions - sometimes as little as 50 metres.

Been lucky enough to see it a few times now. It was quite poor when I first saw it in 2014, but 2016 was a massive improvement and now flares have been added too, making for a very enjoyable display. I think it shows quite an important pattern, which I was very aware of during my time in the far east: in Asia, displays are improving at an insane rate. In the west, meanwhile, the very best we can hope for is that something doesn't get worse. While I'm very much enjoying western airshows now I'm back in this part of the world, I do really miss the optimism and confidence of the airshow industry abroad. I don't know what the feeling is in the US, but in Britain the constant paranoia of an industry in terminal decline can be really depressing at times.
