The 2019 Northeastern Pennsylvania Airshow which was to be held at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Int'l Airport on Memorial Day weekend has been canceled. The Blue Angels were scheduled to attend, but their aerobatic box apparently required a closure of the Pennsylvania Turnpike which was denied because of the holiday weekend.
W-B/SCRANTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT -- The air show planned for next year at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport has now been pushed back to 2020, according to county officials.

Airport authorities said they have been working with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission to close certain parts of the Turnpike near the Airport to allow for the U.S. Navy Blue Angels to perform during Memorial Day weekend 2019.

The airport director said permission to close the Turnpike near the airport was denied because of expected heavy holiday traffic.

The airshow will return on August 22-23, 2020 with a scheduled appearance by the USAF Thunderbirds.

Latrobe, PA on the western side of the state is also having an airshow that same weekend. They already had the Snowbirds, and have hosted the Blues in the past. Hopefully they make arrangements and pick them up again!

Another Northeast show canceled (along with Rhode Island).

Their 2017 "Come-Back" show was nice with the Navy Super Hornet and F-22 Demos. There were lots of US Army displays from Tobyhanna, but practically no military jet statics.

Their shows in the distant past were always nice with plenty of flying and statics.

And those mountains in the background provided some interesting photos.
