This saw the final ever Dunsfold Wings and Wheels, one of the UK's more colourful airshows. Organised by Dunsfold Park, the show raises money for the Brooklands Museum Trust and Help for Heroes and has been a popular part of the local events calendar in Surrey and Sussex. The show gives equal billing to its aviation and motoring activities. The latter involve auto club exhibitions, parades and high speed runs down Dunsfold's runway which is often seen on television as the UK Top Gear test track. (The studio is also on site in the former BAE Systems Hangars)
The air show part always contains favourites from the UK and European scene, but with a focus on the heritage of Dunsfold Aerodrome and Brooklands. Highlights of the final show includes a D-Day formation of B-17G Sally-B and the Dunsfold based C-47A Skytrain, a very smooth solo display by Andy Durston in the P-47D Thunderbolt, an airfield attack by a pair of BAC Strikemasters plus the finale display by a pair of Hawker Hurricane Mk1s flown by Stu Goldspink and Jon Gowdy. More images and a full review of the final show can be found here.
