I am stoked to see this event, especially for the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team Red Arrows and this will be my first time I have gone to the Chicago Air & Water Show. I'm hoping a 70-300mm zoom will be plenty long for this event as I haven't been here before. Any pointers?

Me too - this is as strong a line up I've seen here in a while. If you plan to be there on a weekend day, get there early! About 1 mil per day. Otherwise the Friday practice show is highly recommended. A lot less people and better vantage options. Show Center is North Ave Beach near the boathouse.
