*NEW FOR 2019* will be the TBM Avenger Reunion Car Cruise. The event will be from 4 PM to 10 PM and cost a $5.00 Donation Entry Fee (which will benefit the TBM Reunion's "Salute to Veterans" Event). Beer Gardenwill open at 4 PM and aircraft will be on display along with cars for the car show (first 75 car entrants for the Car Show receive Dash Plaques). Awards will be presented at 6 PM with Veterans, Pilots & Kids Choice Awards categories. Northern Illinois band "She's a Maybe" will perform starting at 7 PM. Then, as dusk hits the airport, Matt Younkin will take to the skies in his Twin Beech 18 to perform his "Magic by Moonlight" Night Air Show!
Paul Keppeler's F-86 and Jeff Kaney's MiG-17 will both be there again as well.
I don't know if this will curtail flights during that time (ie if the cars will be on the ramp or in the parking lot) but that and the night show are making me reconsider going at all. The whole point was that it was a laid back event with easy access to planes and pilots, and Saturday last year was the perfect illustration of how frustrating it can get once the public controls are put into place. The Friday sunset time has been the highlight of the weekend each time, and now it's in jeopardy too. I guess I'll wait and see what takes shape as it gets closer.
