What are the chances that Boeing will have their new 777X perform at Oshkosh this year?
Thanks,

Hi all
My Dad and i are travelling to Oshkosh all the way from New Zealand (can't wait!). I want to shout him a flight on an aircraft over there and see they do B17 rides for $409 which would be pretty awesome! Just wondering if there are any other operators offering paid flights and if they would be any better value than the B17 one? The attraction of the B17 is that I can pre-order online as I imagine they sell out.
Thanks for all the info in this thread, it is is great!

Welcome! My Dad and I went for a Ford Trimotor flight last year. It's a pretty short hop - basically around the pattern and over the seaplane base, probably 15 minutes total for about $75. The cool thing about this flight is it's affordable and it stages from Oshkosh.brenrox wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2019 7:51 pm Hi all

The B-17 flights stage from Appleton, but you still get two flyovers of Oshkosh (one from the North, one from the South). They will transport you out there after you meet at the B-17 trailer. I've never done it, but have only heard good things.
The CAF also does rides out of Appleton. This year's options include the B-29, B-24, C-47, P-51 and others. If cost is a factor, the C-47 might be a good balance between cost and experience (about $250). Here's a page with more information on booking flights in each of those aircraft: http://www.airpowersquadron.org/appleton-wisconsin
Hope you and your Dad have a great Oshkosh experience!

To add to what Matt said, there are usually numerous warbirds that offer rides out of Fond Du Lac as well. EAA limits the rides actually staging from Oshkosh to their Trimotors and helicopters.
If you'll be in town the weekend before (July 20-21 I think?) you could drive a few hours south to either Madison, WI or Janesville, WI where some of the warbirds have pre-Oshkosh gatherings and sell rides. The CAF aircraft Matt mentioned will be in Janesville. It's a much more relaxed and accessible atmosphere for the ride but you don't get the flyover of Oshkosh itself. Not recommending it in particular, just pointing it out as an option that may work for you!
Oh, and welcome! Glad we've been helpful so far. Ask anything else you need info on!

Awesome, thanks so much for that info and the quick response! We won't have a vehicle, so I think the B17 might be the ticket...no matter what I'm sure it will be an experience of a lifetime and worth every cent.

The others did a very good job of covering how those flights operate by EAA and the others at nearby fields. The only thing I've got to add is what I would tell anybody who is considering a warbird ride- Do It!

Looks like Randy Ball will be back this year. Bringing two MiG’s with him.
