Two Blue Angels pilots had a close call when their jets swiped each other during a flyover with the Thunderbirds, according to the Navy Times.

It's being called a disaster averted because although there was brief contact between the aircraft. The publication is reporting it happened Wednesday in Pensacola.

A Navy spokesman said it happened during the Blue Angel Delta formation. The jets encountered "unexpected wake turbulence".
Not much to this report but very interesting if true. A little embarrassing for it to happen with the Thunderbirds, and if it was caused by wake turbulence I hope it does not prevent future joint formations like that.

It was overcast and sounded windy on the live streams of the event so maybe it was natural turbulence? I dunno. Hope it doesn't effect future events like this.

Video of the incident shows it was actually pretty dramatic - I'm glad everything worked out okay.

Imagine the radio chatter on that would have been interesting.
