Aviation Podcasts

Post by AndyMedic » Mon Oct 15, 2018 4:00 pm

I know alot of us spend time on the road going to and from show sites. I have found a good number of aviation themed podcast. I was interested to see what everyone else listens to and if you dont already listen to them at least draw some attention to them.

The Fighter Pilot Podcast - Former F18 driver puts on a pretty good show

Inside Skunk Works - Produced by Skunk works they talk about the early years and the development of our stealth aircraft like the SR71 and F117

Airpower Podcast - Airshow talk from the Class of 45

Hangardeck Podcast- Another aviation podcast that has alot of interesting stuff from former US Navy aircrew

All of these were found on iTunes btw. Look forward to hearing about some others from everyone!!

A little off topic but close. On long distance road trips I listen to Audio books that I download for free from my local library. It sure makes long distance drives more interesting and keeps you from feeling so drowsy.

I’m a bit late to this topic, definitely would second Jello’s FPP and the Skunk Works one. My additional rec would be Jocko Podcast. He’s a retired Navy SEAL who covers an extensive range of military history, lots of it going through books published by people who were in just about every war you can think of- Afghanistan, Vietnam, the Falklands, Korea, WW2, WW1, Custer’s last stand, Napoleon, etc.

For a taste of the ones with an aviation element, try episode 69 with Dave Berke- USMC Hornet pilot, Topgun instructor, ANGLICO FAC in Iraq, and as a bonus he also flew Vipers AND did an exchange tour in the F-22. Episode 63 with William Reeder, Army helo pilot and Vietnam POW. Episode 95 with Jim Kunkle, WW2 P-38 pilot who has an exceptional memory-he tells the story like it happened last week.

A bit late as well, but I like the international civilian and military points of The 9Gs Podcast. The show is available at https://www.9gspodcast.com/
If you like floatplanes, there is as well thatmallardguy.
Cheers!

The Fighter Pilot Podcast is pretty spectacular, both in terms of variety of guests and keeping the conversations interesting with occasional humor. Despite the name, after the first few episodes they focus on a lot more than just the pointy-nose jets.
