Oceana to Phase Out Legacy Hornets

Post by awal2049 » Sun Aug 20, 2017 12:54 am

NAS Oceana is beginning the process of phasing out all F/A-18C/D Legacy Hornets and moving all squadrons to operating the F/A-18E/F Super Hornets. I don't know if this affects the aggressor squadron or the Gladiators' demonstration jets. The upgrade plan will be drafted at the end of this month, and with the current deficiencies that the Hornets are experiencing, my guess is we'll see more Marine Corps and Navy units following suit very soon.

VFA-106 still is the FRS for the USMC. The legacy hornets will likely get transferred to 106. VFC-12 is in all A+'s now. They are older airframes with no carrier landings left in them. I doubt anything will change with them for a while.
