Last flight of a privately-owned Meteor in the UK

Post by Adam » Thu Jan 03, 2019 2:31 am

The world's only flying Meteor Night Fighter, and the last remaining privately-owned Meteor in the UK, will make its final flight on Saturday. Meteor NF.11 WM167 was flown regularly at airshows by the Classic Air Force until the collection folded in 2016. Most of their jets (including the Meteor T.7 at WHAM) were sold abroad; this is one of the last ones left.

There will be a small public event as the jet arrives, with the possibility of a flypast with other classic aircraft. It will then be maintained at Bruntingthorpe as part of the enormous collection of taxying classic jets there.

I think that leaves just four airworthy Meteors worldwide - one in Australia, one in the US and two flown as ejector seat testbeds by Martin Baker in the UK.
