USMC Deactivates EA-6B Prowler Early

Post by awal2049 » Sat Mar 09, 2019 1:37 am

MCAS Cherry Point hosted a ceremony today to deactivate the EA-6B Prowler. This electronic attack platform has seen service in the US Navy and Marine Corps for more than 40 years. It was planned to be retired in June of this year. This comes just over a month after the retirement of the F/A-18 Legacy Hornet in the US Navy. The flight consisted of two of the six aircraft belonging to VMAQ-2. Two of these planes will be delivered to museums: one in Texas and the Smithsonian. The other 4 will be sent to the boneyard in Tuscon, AZ.

Condolences to those hoping to see it at MCAS Beaufort this year.
