Star Wars Canyon 2019

Post by RyanS » Thu Apr 04, 2019 9:29 pm

@RFDGuy and I paid a visit to Star Wars Canyon as part of our Southwestern road trip last month, and I've finally posted our video from the day and a half that we spent there. It was cold, windy, and on the second day overcast with rain. Hell of a visit to Death Valley

Not a ton of luck at the canyon; almost entirely Super Hornets and Vipers. The highlight was undoubtedly the brown camo aggressor Hornet from VMFAT-101! Dave and I were swapping video and photos every pass and I was fortunate to shoot photos on that one.

I've mixed some photos into the video, and I'll post some more here in the thread eventually. I'm sure Dave has some to contribute also.

Hi,

Not sure whether to start a new thread or not, but I shall build on this one.

We went for 2.5 days last week. Tues PM - Thurs PM.

Saw 23 passes total, whilst missing a few by either arriving too late, going to lunch in Panamint Springs or leaving too early. So no terribly busy but oh so satisfying, I shall be returning...

Hornets and Edwards based F-16Ds dominated but I was still awestruck.

Wow, I love that F-15! What's the story on the paint scheme?

RFDGuy, I was really pleased to catch the colour bird, alas unlike the other shots in the set it does not do well beyond web resolution due to atmospherics.

cheers

I just finished a very short write up on our trip, and got the full photo album posted. Check them out here:
