World's Only Airworthy A-26K Returns to Flying

Post by awal2049 » Tue Jul 11, 2017 8:09 pm

A very rare "K" variant of the A-26 Invader bomber returned to the air in Fort Worth, Texas this past Saturday. Known as the "Counter Invader," the A-26K seen here is one of only 40 that were built by On Mark Engineering. This A-26, dubbed "Special Kay," was brought to Fort Worth from Billings, Montana. It has since undergone a 6.5 year restoration by Greatest Generation Aircraft, a non-profit organization based in Forth Woth. The picture is from the article, it looks like it'll need some fresh paint.

Here is a short YouTube clip of the first flight, but there is also a video of the entire hour and a half flight on YouTube.
