USS Ford launches and recovers first aircraft

The USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) aircraft carrier was commisioned last week. This week it launched and recovered its first fixed wing aircraft. This is especially important with the new launching and recovery system the carrier has. The USS Ford now uses an electromagnetic system known as EMALS, instead of steam.
