The 156th Airlift Squadron of the North Carolina Air National Guard based at Charlotte Douglass International Airport (KCLT) have been flying the Lockheed C-130 Hercules for 46 years. This year, they are ending their operational service with the C-130 and upgrading to the C-17 Globemaster III.
Last weekend, all 8 C-130's based in Charlotte did a final max flight featuring all of the C-130's flying together in a chain over the city of Charlotte. I'm currently attending school in Charlotte, and my apartment is directly under the traffic pattern for the Charlotte airport. On several occasions, I have seen a C-130 or two pass right over my room.
The C-17's will be coming in from Joint Base Charleston, though it's unclear how many, and the C-130's will find another home after they leave Charlotte. The 156th Airlift Squadron (formerly the 156th Fighter Squadron) have been operational for 60 years, flying the F-47D Thunderbolt in 1948. It is the oldest unit in the NC Air National Guard.

Here's an image of the new tail flash (the bar on the tail that indicates where the plane is from). It says "Charlotte" but it's obstructed by people.
