"The Movie" Memphis Belle Returns to Flying

Post by awal2049 » Thu Oct 05, 2017 7:37 pm

The B-17G used in the 1990 movie "Memphis Belle" has returned to flying after being sidelined for most of 2017. Known as "'The Movie' Memphis Belle" (MMB), this plane was used to recount the historic B-17F named "Memphis Belle" which completed 25 combat missions in WWII while claiming 8 kills on enemy aircraft. The replica has been a static display in the past, and now it will be offering rides as part of the National Warbirds Museum's "Historic Flight program."

Additionally, the actual Memphis Belle aircraft is being restored, and will be on permanent static display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio. This is planned for Spring 2018.
