A Russian military SU-30SM Flanker has crashed off the coast of Syria near Latakia. Both operators were killed as he plane impacted the Mediterranean Sea. The Russian military believe a bird strike may have caused the crash. They confirmed that it did not come under fire from hostile forces. This is the first incident involving an SU-30 variant aircraft.
