2017 Abbotsford International Airshow
Thanks for that info. Today was disappointing with no practices, but we can blame the smoke for that. You are right, it is funny how the blue sky popped out for our Airshow. It's a sign that the man upstairs wants to give us a great show, especially tomorrow with all the arrivals and practices. NORAD might practice, since some more Hornets are coming in. Tomorrow will make up for today's disappointment. Best part about today was the F-16's arrival. Amazing earth shattering they gave us. You could really feel the ground shake with all the horsepower coming from the engine.

That's odd, I left at 7:30, and never seen the CF=18. Must have been after 7:30 then.Frenetic Enigma wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2017 5:26 am Overall, pretty good arrivals day. Highlights were definitely multiple passes by the USAF F-35s, two very good passes by the F-16 demo team, and some impressive touch-n-gos by the CF-18s.
As mentioned, only one Dutch F-35 arrived, and only looped the field once and promptly landed. The F-15s did not arrive today.
Disappointing that there were no demos/practices during the day. The Super Hornet went up in the early evening, but only did a few practice passes (looked like he was sorting out showlines and/or smoke visibility). CF-18 demo went up last thing (around 7:30) and put on an impressive performance.

Must have been just minutes after you left. I know I checked the time shortly after it was done, and it was close to 8:00. Left at that point, as it looked like everything was being shut down for the night.Viper93 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2017 6:53 amThat's odd, I left at 7:30, and never seen the CF=18. Tomorrow is looking very good; might have to try to get back out there.

That must have been beautiful to see it with the sun setting.Frenetic Enigma wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2017 7:02 amMust have been just minutes after you left. Polaris cancelled a month ago and CC-177 has cancelled as well.AirshowHawk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2017 6:18 am A good day for sure. Oregon F-15's are expected tomorrow mid afternoon from what I've been told. Expect majority of Canadian arrivals between 10am - 2 (CC-177, Polaris, NORAD CF-18s, CT-155s and Harvard II's). Snowbirds practice will be pretty early. Also expect a Viper demo practice sometime around noon along with a practice from the Super Hornet.
I believe the Superhornet team did the few passes today specifically for media and the Ronald McDonald House mini-airshow.
Seemed like the ceiling at the airport was great today towards the end of the Jet Gliders practice. I got my first glimpse of blue skies in days. Strangely the good visibility/ceiling appeared to be only around the airfield. Kinda neat!
Sorry for the late post, I find myself taking advantage of the Craft Beer Festival a little early this year.

Thank you for the information Mark.
I was not made aware of this and was just repeating what I was told by someone who I thought had accurate information!
Aurora is here on a side note.

I consider myself a die hard airshow fan , I know the smoke has played a huge part . But not a single jet demo . This has been tough to remain motivated to stick around . Anyone have any idea if any aircraft go up before the snowbirds ?

I don't know if it's been said already but Abby is on the Blue Angels schedule for next year (2018). So we got that to look forward to at least
