Nellis AFB Aviation Nation 2019
First time visit to Nellis for this show - Looking for advice from photogrpahers who have worked this venue before. Please advise on best locations and prefered lens/focal length for this show? Anyone know if there is a "Photo Pit" or Media pass avaialble for this show?
Thanx

I like to be at the crowd line around the centre one day to catch the aircraft taxying past you on their way to the runway and the other day at the northern end to catch the release of flares and aircraft starting to bank to the left to go round behind the crowd. I used a 70-200 on a full frame for the taxy shots and a 150-600 on a crop camera for the flying. It’s never quite enough for flying displays so there’s always much cropping to do. There is a media pit, but there’s no photographic advantage unless it gets you in on the Friday. I’ve got an album from 2016 on my Flickr if you want to take a look: https://flickr.com/photos/39507667@N04/ ... 1764747376
Best of luck, the sun is not in a good place but there’s plenty to shoot.

The site was down this morning, but is up now. It's the first link on the top banner.

Thanks for that.Must say the static lineup is a little
under done at this stage, hoping it grows a bit more than
the current list.

Jeff hopefully you're right. I know for sure that at least one or two of the F-16 Aggressors will be on static display as well. I'm pretty sure this was confirmed on Facebook by the 57th's FB page.

First, Paul thanks for the tips. I have the same concerns and I definitely want to ensure I get some flare pictures. Otherwise it isn't worth the $300+ in airfare & $150 in hotel to make the trip!Paul wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 8:04 pm Hi Tracy

Also I wonder...
a) Is there a site map?
b) Is the premium box seating worth the expense?
c) I've heard of grandstands in the past. IS that happening again this year?
d) Any and all tips on capturing flares would be much appreciated as again, the Saturday & Sunday combined arms demos are why I'm making the trip.
Thanks much!

I've been to the Nellis air show many times, twice I setup down on the south end because of the sun and once on the north end. Is it better on the north to catch the flares? I know the takeoff, landing, and taxing depends on the weather conditions. Any advice on that?
Thanks.
Thanks.

No, still no flying at the canyon. I think there's still a restriction of 1500 ft. AGL.

It does feel quite frustrating waiting for more static participants to be announced. The flying display looks good, but I can’t see where the Mustang and Bronco that are in the list of flying participants fit into the flying display schedule.
