Flying Legends Airshow 2017 - Duxford
Flying Legends Airshow 2017 - Duxford
Starting a thread to capture news from the show. Two separate P-51 incidents this weekend, luckily both pilots and planes are more or less ok. I will move my Berlin Express post into here and add more info about the second incident. Any more info is appreciated!

Sounds like Berlin Express lost her canopy during some flying at Duxford yesterday. Plane and pilot got down safe, but photos show damage to the tail area after the Malcom hood canopy shattered/came off. I'm hearing that the Horsemen are practicing with another P-51 and will probably continue to perform as a three ship. No info yet on how long BE will be down. Nick Grey was reportedly the pilot at the time of the incident.
Berlin Express was flown across the Atlantic to perform in Europe this month.
Anyone have more info?

The second incident appears to be an emergency landing off-airport by the P-51 "Miss Velma". The pilot and airplane are reportedly ok. This photo was private messaged to me:

From the BBC:
Vintage Mustang causes 'carnage' at junction on way to be repaired
Vintage Mustang causes 'carnage' at junction on way to be repaired
A vintage aeroplane forced to make an emergency landing at the weekend got into further difficulties at a junction while on the way to be repaired.
The World War Two Mustang "Miss Velma" suffered suspected engine failure during an air show at Duxford on Sunday afternoon and landed in a nearby field.
While it was being taken for repairs, the wingspan turned out to be too wide to fit through a set of traffic lights.
It took more than an hour to get the carriageway clear, police said.
Beds, Cambs & Herts Roads Policing Unit took to Twitter to describe the scene as "carnage".
"Recovered plane just won't fit through gap!" the unit wrote when the vehicle transporting the plane became stuck at about 15:35 BST.
