EAA announced their plans today for flying bombers during the week. How about two B-1 flyovers and a formation of a B-1, B-2, and B-52?! Plus all of the warbird bombers. I'm really excited!

Amazing. I'm excited to see the Bone in the air again. Here's hoping the A-20 flies earlier in the week as well.

EAA AirVenture is the place to be this summer it looks like! I thought 2016 was fantastic with the Martin Mars, but it looks like 2017 could out do last year. For my third Oshkosh (2010 and 2016 before), it will be the first time I plan to be there for the final Saturday. Glad my flight out is late that evening.

Paul Keppler posted on the Warbird Information Exchange forums of the possibiity of a 4 ship formation flight of F-86s!
This should make a cool four-ship at Oshkosh. Latest maintenance intel on all four jets is good. Fingers crossed they all make it.
Also included in the post are pictures of the 4 F-86s, including the F-86A, making its long awaited Oshkosh debut.

Hoping the much anticipated 4-ship Sabre formation finally does happen this year! 8-)

Paul Keppeler also just posted in WIX that there "might" be a decent T-33 formation too.

Here's an updated version of the AirVenture daily schedule. It looks like they will be mixing up the USAF Heritage Flight formations on different days (ex: F-35, A-10, P-51. 2 x A-10, P-51 etc). Also The B-1B will be flying on the Wednesday night show, instead of the day show.

EAA held a webinar today about the features and attractions of the 2017 event. I was able to listen to it and here are some notes from the webinar about this year's Airventure.

75th Doolittle Raid Anniversary: almost 16 B-25s confirmed. Wednesday night show will replicate when they took off on the USS Hornet, in rapid succession

75th anniversary of 8th Air Force/70th anniversary USAF: 3:30 on Saturday B-2, B-52, B-1 formation pass. B-1, B-52, and B-2 will come back and do some single ship passes. Also 2 B-29s, 2 B-17s, A-20, B-24 and 2 B-25s (I believe)

Current military participation: B-1, B-52, B-2, 2 x P-8s, 2 x F-22s, KC-135, Heritage Flight (F-35 and A-10s), A-400M (Wednesday only), F-18s, F-16s, US Army Chinook and Apache

"Cool airplanes": F-86A, Boeing YL-15, C-123 Thunderpig, A-20, P-63, SBD Dauntless, P-47s, Collings Foundation Spitfire

Some daily airshow highlites:

Monday: B-1B arrival and F-35 demo team arriving during the show.

Tuesday: USAF Heritage Flight F-35, A-10, 2 x P-51s

Wednesday: "Surprise" following National Anthem involving a tanker? 2 x A-10s from the Indiana ANG doing a demonstration involving pyro, A-400M departs and performs some passes
Wednesday night: B-25s using lots of pyro. B-1B performing. Wall of Fire

Thursday: Dassult Falcon 8X, USAF Heritage Flight (2 x A-10, P-51. Jet day for warbirds. Blue Angels diamond flight survey

Have to run to work!! Hopefully someone can fill in the rest of the days for me!

A couple things that stuck out to me are the different Heritage Flights each day. I do wish they'd vhange the warbirds up instead of always being Mustangs. But cool to get some different formations.

I am super excited for the B-1 to stage there and fly in the twilight show. The ANG A-10s with pyro is also a huge thing to look forward to.

Interesting that they are splitting the Blue Angels survey flights on Thursday and Friday. It will be odd to have the TFR active from 10 to 11am on Friday. And on Friday there will be ab hour of airshow after the Blue Angels fly.

96 pyro bombs on the first Doolittle Raid pass should be amazing. That many B-25s will be deafening!

The A400M is from the RAF and will be arriving and departing on Wednesday. See it fast! Lots of shows are getting A400s on display this year it seems.

In other news, they mentioned some gatherings of vintage planes and home builts like the Cessna 190/195, Extras, Howards, Piper Cubs, and more. Scaled Composites is bringing Proteus and setting up a number of forums and displays.

One big mystery is an apparent national anthem flyover on Tuesday I think it was. The comment was that there are a lot of moving parts and they're relying on a tanker far away. No specifics of what is planned but it certainly sounds special. I would not expect it to be anything that has already been announced.
