Having been to this show several times in the 2000s, I can vouch that the Marines fly damn close to every aircraft type they've got in this airshow, and that would be a huge blow to the flying display.
Sorry, being from the other side of the pond and flying over for the show can you explain the safety stand down?

Not a problem! There's multiple news articles about a two-day safety stand-down or pause in flight ops as a result of the F-35B that went missing. The pause in ops could very well have already happened since the Blue Angels are already at Miramar.

Ah gotcha. Had heard about the F-35 going awol but hadn’t realised they’d paused ops.
Thanks for all the info and fingers crossed they’re back up and running g for the weekend.

I heard the Safety stand-down was supposed to only be two days though? I think it ends on friday?

Really enjoyable show yesterday despite a few breaks due to the grass fire.
Question though… the static part seemed relatively thin with the vast majority of the USAF static not being present ( no F-15/16/22,B-1/52 or the heavy lift mob ) and a lot of the civvie stuff missing too. I know the weather wasn’t great on Friday but any reason for the no shows?
