Frecce Tricolori North American Tour 2024

Post by n33d4sp33d_85 » Thu Nov 23, 2023 11:29 pm

The team is visiting Canada to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force. While in the United States the Frecce Tricolori will perform a flyover of the Italian Navy tall ship Amerigo Vespucci as well as other iconic U.S. landmarks to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Giovanni da Verrazzano’s expedition to America in 1524.

So they are going to perform at Milwaukee (now same weekend as OSH) and skip performing ar world's largest air show? makes you wonder if we will see more announcements.

Given they are already coming over mid-June, and have 3 shows in Canada as it is, probably pretty doubtful we can hope for Airshow London in mid-September.

While I haven't seen any official declaration of the actual length of the tour, I've heard it's from mid-June to mid-August, so they'll likely be back in Europe by the time London rolls around. Could be wrong though.

I'm thinking your better bet is the Red Arrows.

Considering the distance between Cold Lake and Milwaukee, and the fact that a couple fuel stops are likely needed (I don't believe the MB339 can be refueled in flight) and of course somewhere to clear customs (Milwaukee?), I could see OSH getting a flyover only. The Snowbirds also are going from Cold Lake to Wisconsin in that same timeline. That could pose some unique photo ops enroute. It's rare for the Snowbirds to be in the Wisconsin area at that part of July when they're always in western Canada.

Looking back at past years' airshow schedules it looks like Milwaukee's airshow has occurred on the same weekend as Oshkosh on at least one occasion.
