As far as I know, the runway is not used as any of the three showlines. Some time ago, the aerobatic box requirements changed forcing the show line north in order to keep the southern edge of the box clear of those houses. I think back then the runway was used as a showline but I believe that is not the case any more.

Following up on this, Abbotsford have posted this on their Facebook page, "CONFIRMED! We're kicking off "SAR Week" by announcing the RCAF CH-149 Cormorant from 442 Squadron in Comox will be on static display at this year's Airshow! Lots more confirmations to come!"

Sounds like we have a lot to look forward to, wonder what SAR editions they have in store.

I am sure that the runway is the high-speed line. Taxiway is slow and the white containers are medium. The last 2 could be reversed though. The distance for the shoreline is determined by Trasnsport Canada or some other higher power.
Pure speculation but I wonder if we will be getting the replacement for the Buffalo coming(can't think of the name of it right now).

Airbus CC-295. First delivery isn't scheduled until late 2019.

Well your speculation was on the right track.

You might not see the Canadian version yet but the US Coast Guard will be bringing their version of it for static as LAXSPOTTER97 mentioned. This will be another first time appearance if all goes as planned!

C-17 Demo is still a possibility... if not expect it for static.

Very cool! I think there's going to be 4 firsts on static for me: MC-130J, HC-144, CH-148, and MQ-9.

Boy it's sure going to be nice to have the static ramp really filled out again this year. Almost back to the days of old where the heavy side went biggest to smallest down the line: C-5, KC-10, C-17, ect.

Still seems smaller compared to Airshow London. For no limitations on statics from the USAF, I'm expecting a couple more assets from them... It'd be a bit disappointing to not see more

Are we still doing the London vs Abby thing this year again? Can we just stop with that and celebrate both shows' success?

ASL has some decent assets, but I'd say Abbotsford is a bit more intriguing with its variety of both current military and warbird statics local and international. Both shows look like good ones to attend regardless.

Here's a link to the Abbotsford static list for reference.
