Dave, thanks for the compliment on the Swamp Fox shot. Still the highlight of the show for me.
ASL has a stellar line up and organization. Alas it has been slightly marred by meh weather.. the light in previous years was awesome, but alas it is the one thing they can not organize.
The Hornets were today's highlights

Mother nature heard my complaints about the hot humid summer and made my last airshow 60 degrees and windy! Still better than 100 though!

Wow. That schedule was waaaaay off. Some of those displays cancelled a while ago. This is why flying/arrival schedules usually aren’t posted.

The schedule helped me, it was mostly in order even if I didn't pay attention to specific times. I knew some things wouldn't go (Jeff still isn't feeling well - I haven't seen him at the airport all weekend) but it did shed some light on what to look for.
Pretty brutal day with the wind (and a week after an equally brutal 100 degree heat index - what a change) but holy cow did the F-22 pilot rock the finale after sitting there for like two hours. Hats off to that guy for working hard to put on a show!
Not sure I'm up for double the wind speeds tomorrow; probably watching from the car.
Hopefully lots of departures tomorrow!

Well, that was a great Airshow!
Sure, the weather was a bit non-airshow-like, but I've been there in colder and the one year it poured cold rain until just before show time. Of course, then it got sunny and super-hot, and we could have used some sun yesterday, I guess, but that's no on ASL's shoulders!
I was very impressed with both the static and flying displays, too. Seeing the F-22s on the ground was awesome, and unexpected, and it was great to see some weird stuff, like that EC-130 and the Talons. Great work to all involved!
The flying was very good, too, and is the longest program I can ever remember, and that's going back to 1981! I know those who stuck around were thrilled to see the Raptor finally get it's wheels up, and given that he's not the official "demo team" (at least I don't think he was) he did a good job using up the rest of his gas!!!
I would like to know what happened to the F-22 though; why did they have to idle so long and and even restart once? Blue screen of death??
Those are awesome photos; way better than my little camera took! However, as to mstares comment about the F-18s being the highlight, I'd disagree, I think the best performance was the F-16. Lots of burner on that guy and he really wrung it out! The Norad F-18 was a close second, though, and the over-the-crowd-from-behind and then into burner at show centre was AWESOME. I miss the days of the Phantom "sneak attack" to open the show, and that was a good throwback!
So, great work to all, and I'm already jonesing for next year's show. Let's hope for a nice fall day - if there is such a thing in this town!

It was hard to hear with the 22 in front of me but they mentioned having to charge something above idle so he taxied away from the crowd to do so. It would have been quite the surprise if the demo 18 flew with the 22 at the end since it couldn't fly with the other 18 before.
If someone happens to be at the show, could you mention if the 15's or 35C are in front of the crowd today? I would assume they would leave today if so.
Edit: today's schedule attached, 2x 22 and 18's

Sitting in the parking lot; I've seen the tails of the Super Hornets and Hawk get towed past but can't see the others. I'm guessing departures would be before the official flying starts if any?AVI8R wrote: ↑Sun Sep 09, 2018 2:31 pm It was hard to hear with the 22 in front of me but they mentioned having to charge something above idle so he taxied away from the crowd to do so.
