Navy TAC Demo 2019 Status
Any updates on this? I contact them and all I got was:
“The schedule is going through the approval process. Once it is approved it will be released.”

Going from memory from the last few years, I think the earliest the Navy has announced the TAC Demo schedule has been mid-February. So we still have some time before we see it. It will probably be March before we see it though.

I've basically come to see as anything we get for the Navy Tac Demo as a bonus and yes they tend to release their schedule later in the year (March maybe?). They are still having a Legacy Flight training this season so there is that good news!

I just <3 the Navy Tac Demo, so I hope they're back and back for good. There's something neat about flying in FSX a Vertical Reality Simulations version of the Super Hornet (aka Rhino, Superbug) and then seeing the real-life jet perform at an airshow, light the afterburners and create its own clouds.

So from what I have gathered it sounds like it will just be a legacy flight program with a few individual solo passes. Not a demo but a step in the right direction!

A few shows are saying they have the Navy Tac demo, but who knows if its legit till they release their schedule. Quite a few shows are saying they in fact do have a Legacy flight, check out the Tacoma thread. So while I doubt the Tac Demo is done, just possibly small amount of shows.

See below. Hopefully this means we are going to see full tac demos from the Oceana team this year..I have to say the whole legacy flight only thing for this year made little sense. The complaint from Navy last year was that there was a shortage of flyable hornets and they needed them for training ops. Whether the jets are performing a full tac demo or just a legacy flight they are not going to be available for training ops for the length of time the team is out of town. Perhaps there will be a Growler Legacy flight team out of Whidbey, and Rhino Legacy team our of Lemoore and a tac demo team out of Oceana. With that setup it would allow more shows to be supported without one squadron only having to take air frames away from the FRS nearly every weekend. Guess we will find out one way or another soon.

Don’t forget that t-45s are being added to legacy flights as well. Sun n fun has scheduled a t-45/Corsair legacy flight. With them added it adds some more sense for them to reach more shows.
