I wouldn't expect them to come anywhere near what they had in '03 in terms of numbers of jet teams, jet demos, acts, warbirds, etc. but I will say this - the lineup as it is now is pretty decent. There's a few civilian acts that I personally would go out of my way to go see over and over, and I'd certainly pencil in Dayton on my calendar if we weren't already committed to going to Canada that weekend.

What I've noticed with Dayton and a lot of other airshows is that you're in that time from early May to late September when you've got several airshows of all sizes competing for the same acts. It's the nature of the beast.

For a 50th anniversary airshow that's held at an international airport, I've got to congratulate them. You'd think that by now the airport wouldn't be able to handle an airshow with a jet team and jet demos because the airport serves more destinations for paying passengers than it did 5-10 years ago.

(Are they still taking off and landing airline traffic behind the crowd while the airshow goes on in front of the crowd?)
Yea they still do arrivals on the south runway during the show. Hell a CP-140 came in halfway though the show last year for static because why not

This show is very underwhelming. At this point, I’m looking forward to the Columbus airshow more than this one. After last year, I was quick to get Dayton tickets due to its relatively good lineup from last year along with a 50th anniversary show. I’ve always viewed Dayton as more of a static show, so maybe the statics will be good but that won’t make up for the lack of performers in the air. It would be nice to get a few more fighter flybys and it would be even better to get one of the USAF bombers. Hopefully the show organizers are cooking something special as a surprise for this show, but as of now it looks like a mid tier lineup.

According to their Instagram they say that they have an “exciting static aircraft that have been confirmed.” They also said they are close to finalizing the static list so I hope the list is good.

And now according to an email they sent around 5 minutes ago, the new static is a German Air Force Atlas A400M based out of Wunstorf Air Base in Lower-Saxony, Germany!!

With Columbus announcing the Bayou Eagles today I would wonder if the Dayton Air Show would also get those Eagles. Would for sure love to see the Bayou guys make a return

I’m not saying it’s true but I chatted with one of the eagle pilots at San Antonio who mentioned Dayton . So it’s sounds like it’s more a yes than a no.

Is it just me or is this lineup becoming almost identical to 2022? Blues, EC C-17, Viper, Tora, potential Bayou F-15s. It's basically 2022's lineup minus the Sea Stallion and Vampire.
