Very cool first day, it was my first time seeing an F-22 demo and that was a real treat, still deciding on which I like more between them and the F-35 demo team.

Was sort of let down by the combined arms demo. Instead of a mock attack where the F-15s and F-35s are scrambled, all the aircraft were already airborne. It may not be the case, but it seemed like a lot fewer flares were used compared to recent years (from the videos I’ve seen).

Overall it was awesome, excited to go again tomorrow.

That's how it is normally, the ground attack and air attack demos used to be split up in previous years, the only aircraft that is scrambled is the F-22 (Or back in the day F-15s)

Flares seemed... About the same amount as previous years as well I think! Honestly last show was in 2019 so my memory is a tad foggy

Just playing with connecting by R7 to my iPhone this evening and downloading photos from my camera. Here’s a few quick ones today with a quick crop in the Photos app on my phone. No idea how they’ll look here.

I was going to say! I was a lot more impressed by the combined arms demo for Sunday’s show, way more flares, the action seemed more consistent, it was fantastic.

Overall I am very glad I made the journey to the show and look forward to the next one they host.

Part 1. Though initially disappointed at what seemed a lacklustre lineup considering it was the 75th Anniversary of the USAF (still at a bit of a loss at the lack of warbirds that have been present at every other Nellis show I've attended), I still had a great time at Aviation Nation 2022 and it turned out be an amazing show nonetheless (just not really a show that celebrated the anniversary like the 50th in 1997, granted there is no way a show of that calibre would ever happen again). Anyways, on with the photos. Here are a collection from the air power demo; definitely the highlight of the show for me.
