Return of the Black Cats

Post by Adam » Sun Jan 27, 2019 9:41 am

As noted by UK Airshow Review, the Royal Navy Black Cats' Instagram bio suggests the team will be reactiveted in 2019. It reads:
"The Royal Navy’s elite helicopter display team; flying the Wildcat Mk2 to the edge of it’s envelope for your enjoyment, all across Europe in 2019..."

The Black Cats haven't displayed since 2016 as their squadron focussed on converting aircrew from the Lynx to the Wildcat.

I'm hoping to see some more news on this soon and will post it here if I see anything. Same goes for their display schedule if/when it is released.

Great! I saw them at Waddington in 2014. If memory serves, it was their debut show with a Wildcat in the team and their final year displaying the Lynx. I remember being pretty impressed with their syncronised opposition manoeuves.

Has this been known about for long? And do you know if it will be a pair or singleton?

Pair and singleton, as they used to.

Some shows will get the pair display, whilst others will receive a solo.

Confirmed on Instagram, solo displays only this year.

"We’re back from a 2 year absence so we’re working our way back up to those wonderful pairs days!"

My apologies, was under the impression we'd be seeing a pairs display this year!

Still, I'll happily take a solo!
