Watched from the Speedway today, not as bad a spot as I feared. Had a good time chatting with a couple photographers until we got kicked out - didn't get names but appreciate the conversation! Thankfully we got kicked out just at the end of the airpower demo and not before.
It was awesome to see the aggressors, especially the beautiful blizzard scheme! The airpower demo was fantastic; towards the end two A-10s, two F-15Es, and an F-35 all formed a wagon wheel above the Pave Hawks. Nonstop jet noise all around. After regrouping we got a four ship missing man and a five ship flyover with one of each type up.
With the Fury missing, the Growler did a short demo. The C-17 and KC-135 seemed to be cut short but also looked very cool. Thunderbirds flew early and the F-35 closed the show but with only one F-86 in the Heritage Flight.

Man........I gotta go to the next one.
Still think I like Ghost the best of all the aggressors. It never did fly correct?

I still miss the Super Hornet demo team and always will until it's return, but I did kinda like the Legacy Flight Demo Team in that you never knew what you were going to get.
I saw it three times this year (each time was the dual VFA-122 demo), and each profile was different.
At Redlands they did the Legacy with the FJ-4 and did some alright passes.
Reno was a total bust after the FJ pulled out due to mechanical. The only "performance" was Friday and it was a terribly boring routine.
Then Huntington topped it off with a KILLER Legacy with the BA Bearcat and some hot passes over the water.
Nellis looked really good, Growler mini demo?! Pretty rare!

All I can say is WOW!!! It was my first time out at Nellis, and what a time it was. Saw lots I don't usually get to see, and finally saw Julie Clark perform. Here are some of my pics from the Sunday airshow.

I had a great time at Nellis. Security and bussing was not as bad as I feared, although I did get a Navy SEAL wannabe on Sunday who opened every single tiny pocket in my bag and determined my fingernail clippers were a security threat… Even dealing with his bullshit we made it in on the first few buses of the day and got the spot we wanted. Unfortunately it was at crowd left where the busses dropped off and many people crowded in there instead of wandering down further. We only had a few chairs for the group since we all flew in, so it got a little tense trying to save our seats from the pushy people behind us.
The ramp was HUGE – I never even got to the other end especially since the show started so immediately after busses unloaded. I really would have loved more time to walk the statics and look at the squadron tents (which had tons of good stuff). On the plus side, they did let everyone walk around after the flying instead of immediately shooing us away, and it was cool to be out on the ramp until sunset.
The CAD was great if a little far away at times. The Growler absolutely tore it up. I was thrilled to find that the speakers were entirely reasonable and on Sunday the two near us even failed during the day meaning good video opportunities for me! The downside was no scanners allowed so we had no cues as to what was going on. Watching the Thunderbirds without comms feels very strange and disappointing now that I do it everywhere else.
I wouldn’t say I’m an automatic to go back, but it was definitely a good experience!
