2024 Charleston Airshow “Heroes of Flight"
According to flightaware, it looks like the C-47 is "7H" from the Liberty Foundation and not "Luck of the Irish"
Weather looks a bit better for tomorrow. About to drive down. Can't wait!

I’m still holding off on flying down tomorrow for the Sunday show. The rain chances are smaller until the evening but the cloud ceilings look super low :/

Some things I see saying it’ll be VFR with 5000’ ceilings and then some say IFR all day with 700’ ceilings. Pretty wonky

A single F-22 from Tyndall came in this morning along with a SJ tailed F-15E.OwenORourke wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 6:30 pm It looks like they updated their air show map on their Instagram feed - removed the HC-130, KC-46, U-28, 1xF-22 & 2xF-15.
Military statics include:

I hope this airshow got all their ducks lined up correctly with regards to what's allowed, what's not, as there's been a lot of conflicting and contradicting information being thrown around. Seems like photographers are going to have to sling expensive lenses over their shoulders or put them in clear bags.

I is here; security was a breeze. Camera bag was not a problem.
For some reason, the F-35's are parked with the exhaust aimed at the crowd. Hope people don't crowd around when they start.
One TB is hangared. Only 5 jets currently in the lineup. We'll see if they tow a two seater over before showtime.
Statics did not disappoint. Man, it is hot already! Hopefully I can last the full show.
C-17 and C-47 just took off. Show is starting.

I had to do a double-take on your photo of the F-16. For a little while it looked like some sort of odd experimental winglet - then I realized it's the Dreamlifter tail!
I hope to make it down there in two years, if they have the airshow in 2026. Like I said earlier on, my wife and I were going to make this our show opener but a recent move plus other things had us cancelling. We even had a standing invite to tour the 787 final assembly line from a friend of mine who works at Boeing SC. That tour will have to wait.

I caught the thunderbirds from the top of the airport parking lot before my flight out. Looked like #4 had an issue fairly early. They did some of the 4 ships as a 3ship and they had 5 or 6 fill in for some of the others. Made for a bit of a weird show, but safety first and any flying is good flying

Yeah, like I mentioned, they had that jet in a hangar. They towed it out before their performance, but I guess it wasn't quite ready. Not sure why the two seaters weren't an option. Many of their new maneuvers include #5, so that's how they are normally done.albloch wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 8:25 pm I caught the thunderbirds from the top of the airport parking lot before my flight out. Yeah, I didn't realize that until after I took it. I thinks it's kind of funny.I had to do a double-take on your photo of the F-16. For a little while it looked like some sort of odd experimental winglet - then I realized it's the Dreamlifter tail!
That was one of the hotter air shows I've attended. I had to go back to my car during the break. Recorded the Thunderbirds from there. I'll have more pics and a summary soon, but first I need to shower.
