Don't miss the Belgian debut of a display of NATO's newest member during the International Sanicole Airshow on September 21 & 22 at Hechtel-Eksel: the Swedish Blackhawk display.

The Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk is a tactical transport helicopter primarily used to transport troops and for medical evacuation. This versatile machine is truly multi-functional and can be armed with a wide range of guided and unguided weapons. Since entering service in 1979, it has built a strong reputation around the world for reliability and survivability. In addition to military use, it is also used for civilian purposes, such as for police and firefighting tasks.

In Sweden the UH-60 M Blackhawk carries the designation "HKP-16". Fifteen of these highly capable helicopters serve with the 2nd and 4th helicopter squadrons, both based at Malmen in the southeast of the country. They entered service with the Swedish Air Force in 2011 and have been fully operational since 2017. The Swedish Air Force has already deployed them in Afghanistan, where they mainly performed medical evacuation tasks.

During the demonstration, the crew demonstrates the helicopter's exceptional agility and impressive acceleration with a series of rapid pirouettes and steep climbs and dives, a striking illustration of why the helicopter is so popular with pilots. Despite an empty weight of 5.5 tons, a weight that can almost double when fully loaded, it is a high-performance aircraft. The first demonstration by the Swedish Air Force will certainly leave a lasting impression.

Visit the International Sanicole Airshow on 21 & 22 September and experience a blast from the past. In the 1980s, the Sanicole Airshow welcomed the world-renowned Britse Skyhawks motor glider duo. Now, some 40 years later, we take a nostalgic look back with a modern touch thanks to France's Alternative Duo, making their Belgian debut.

The aim of this brand new team from France is to pay homage to the Skyhawks team and they therefore fly the same aircraft, the wooden Fournier RF-4D motor glider. They fly a graceful synchronised display with graceful aerial acrobatics set to music with these classics of aviation.

The team may be new, but in the cockpit we find two experienced men. In the blue aircraft leader Benoit David is at the controls, and in the red aircraft his wingman Anthony Bezard, whom we remember from his magnificent Breitling Bucker Jungman demonstration. Together they fly these beautiful aircraft over from Dijon-Darois airport.

However, they will add a modern touch to their show, as on Saturday evening they will delight you with a colourful fireworks display with flares they fire during their demonstration from their long slender wings

For a unique fireworks spectacle, the International Sanicole airshow is the place to be. At sunset, aviators from abroad invariably create a colourful spectacle in the sky with beautiful pyrotechnics drawing unique patterns over the Hechtel heath. Be sure not to miss the Belgian premiere of one of our "sunset acts", which will demonstrate just about the most economical way to fly: the Polish Flying Dragons.

The Flying Dragons will delight you with 8 paragliders. A paraglider’s wing is a soft structure similar to a parachute and the pilot carries the motor like a backpack on his back. The team will present a sophisticated choreographed aerial ballet in formation, using beautiful fireworks and colourful lighting effects. The pilots in the team are highly experienced paragliders. Two of them are even absolute world class in paragliding.

Who knows, maybe they’ll inspire you to give the wonderful sport of paragliding a try yourself.
