I live here in Charleston and work at Boeing right next to the airport. Saw a couple C-17s practicing for the capability demo the other day, was impressive to watch. I will be really disappointed if Boeing doesn't send a 787 over for static. They have 3 of the 787-10 flight test airplanes undergoing refurb right now. I've been listening to ATC will post if I hear anything about the Thunderbirds arriving. I though they arrived on Friday but you guys are saying Thursday so I will go with that.

TBIRDS confirmed cancelled. The press release states that the previous #4 will return and they are cancelling the next two shows to get him up to speed training wise.

Well, at least we have confirmation now. I wonder if ACC will send us a present on such short notice.

If the ACC does send something it will be the A-10 Demo Team because the F-16 is in Myrtle Beach and the F-22 is in California. The A-10 would be a nice addition no doubt but being such short notice they’ll probably not send anything.

Honestly it’s why I believe they added aeroshell, the f-35, and the f-86. I think they knew a couple weeks ago.

Anyone going to be around Charleston for practice tomorrow? I was up there today listening to ATC and saw the B-52 come in. Static area is filling up pretty good. Expect a lot of the fighters to come in tomorrow

Yeah, I agree with Airplanefreak2000, I think they all knew last week, and added stuff to fill the gap(Aeroshell for the formation aspect, F-35 for the ACC aspect) plus an extra performer or 2 to make up for the missing time.
I won't be in CHS, but I will be at Myrtle Beach tomorrow for practice (going to be off field, but hoping to get a reasonable view).

Has anyone been to an air show here before? They finally posted a layout of the grounds and it looks like show center is actually the farther point from the two runways. I am curious which runway they are likely to use and how the aerobatic box will be positioned. Any help would be much appreciated.

The box should be lined up with the crowd line and not the runway. Haven’t been, but they share the airfield with Charleston International Airport. I know there will be some commercial activity during the show. If I had to guess, Air Show traffic will be handled on runway 3/21, while commercial flights will be held on 15/33. It’ll be interesting to see how they manage that. Probably send several flights out at once between acts.OwenORourke wrote: ↑Fri Apr 27, 2018 2:11 am Has anyone been to an air show here before? For reference, this is what he’s talking about.
