This is (would be) the same weekend as Pocono, which is about a 45 minute drive from AVP.n33d4sp33d_85 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 6:29 pm August 23rd - 24th

As I stated in the 2024 thread for this event, I would be willing to bet that any airshow in that part of Pennsylvania would be at Pocono Raceway, as they've had airshows every two years and 2025 lines up to be the next one.

This will never happen. They couldn’t have a show in 19 when they had the Blue Angels . The 2020 show didn’t go because of Covid with the Thunderbirds . 2022 the Thunderbirds were booked and they never had a show . They haven’t had a show with a headliner booked never mind without one . They complained about losing money in 2017. Think the reality is that ship has sailed for future Airshows .

So aside from the ones in the 80s and 90s and in 2000, I was at that 2017 show. Enjoyed it. Learned something on the way to the airport that year that there were road closures that had to happen for the airshow to proceed. The 2019 show was supposed to be Memorial Day weekend and I recall the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission refused to have the NE Extension closed for any length of time because of the holiday weekend. I truly believe the PTC will refuse any future airshow-related closures because of their money-hungry scam of a scheme called having the most expensive roadway in the country (PA Turnpike tolls go up every January by 5% or more and are set to continue thru 2053 and I know I'll be looooooong gone by then).
"They complained about losing money in 2017." Isn't it rare for an airshow to break even? I mean unless you're running a museum in Michigan or run a company whose president's last name is a flower, I seem to think it's rare for an airshow to turn a solid profit.
I don't think this will be cancelled for 2025. I think it's listed in error. Like I said previously I'd bet my bottom dollar that a 2025 event in this region is at the Pocono Raceway. Would've thought the Thunderbirds would return and piggyback off an Atlantic City appearance, but neither is happening.

Looks like ICAS took down the Pocono date for this weekend . Maybe there is hope for an AVP show.

It's probably best to wait another nine months and revisit this at that time. Be nice if whatever airshow in this region happens right after Atlantic City like it did the first two times Pocono Raceway had their airshow.
