Hello everyone, first time to post in here.

I will be heading to Chicago from Friday night. Still debating myself whether I should bring long lens or stick with 200-500...
Hope I can capture the formation flight with Chicago skyline in background...

I use a Canon 60D with a EF 70–300mm f/4–5.6L IS USM and a Canon ET-37 lens hood. So, that would mean that I have a crop body. So, I am actually getting 480mm effective focal length with this setup. 300mm x 1.6 crop. I hope that'll be long enough for this show as I haven't attended this yet despite living 3 hours away.

I will be wearing a Ford Tri Motor hat and a EAA Chapter 75 badge. I'll be in the media area at the show.

People fool themselves with the crop factor all the time. If you have only ever shot a crop body, 300mm is the same 300mm you know from experience. Almost everyone starts with a crop body, and lens sizes are almost always discussed without reference to the crop factor for that reason. 300mm will be challenging but hopefully enough for you :)

Hopefully we are going to get to north beach. Does anyone know what the toilet situation is there? Do they set up port-a-poties?
Also are food vendors there?

Lots of port-a-poties and food vendors at North Ave Beach. Was there today. Get there early parts of the beach are underwater.

Finally decided to go with 500/4 (so I can use TC) - assuming all performers will not fly close enough but rather far away...
