Royal International Air Tattoo 2019
Really enjoyed that display last year. A thumbs up from me!

The MoD's announcement today, which confirms RIAT will be the Red Arrows' last UK show of the year, is effectively confirmation that the Reds are added to this year's Air Tattoo flying display. Not that anyone ever really doubted that though.

Considering RIAT have been advertising on national TV that the Red Arrows are performing at RIAT 2019 for the last three weeks, this is perhaps not surprising...

Indeed. Always good to see them added to the official participating aircraft list though.

Woah that's a curveball!
The first and last time I saw the Blades at a proper airfield show was Waddington 2014. They were very, very good - one of the highlights of the day for me. But at seaside shows they're so, so far away and I just can't get excited about them any more. Hopefully at Fairford they'll be back to how I remember them five years ago. But still... the Blades at RIAT? Weird...

No, not really.
IAT/RIAT has had plenty of civilian participation from aerobatic teams over the years - Rover Pair, Skyhawks, Will Curtis Su-26 solo, AeroSuperBatics Wingwalkers (in pretty much all their different guises). The WeFly Ultralights and so on.
Hardly a curveball at all, particularly so early.
