Re: RAF Red Arrows 2020

I'm not sure of their sources (I wish Scramble would say where they get their information from when it hasn't been publically announced through the official channels) but their post seems largely consistent with the statement released by the Red Arrows this morning. It reads: Given the current restr...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2020

Wow, wasn't expecting that one so soon. Does NOT bode well for Oshkosh. Sorry to our UK friends who were looking forward to it. My friends are already saying that the light season this year will hopefully help them save up to get to RIAT in 2021. Hey, well that's certainly quite a significant silve...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2020

RIAT 2020 has been cancelled. It is with enormous regret and disappointment that we have to announce the cancellation of this year's Royal International Air Tattoo, due to take place from 17 to 19 July, as a result of the challenging and unprecedented environment presented by COVID-19. This decision...

Re: Corona virus, Covid-19 and airshows?

Warbirds Over Wanaka in New Zealand is the latest cancellation.

I also spotted a few over the past few days which have not yet been mentioned here: Pacific Coast Dream Machines in Half Moon Bay, and FIDAE in Santiago, Chile. Wings over Illawarra in Australia is also to be postponed.

Re: Corona virus, Covid-19 and airshows?

This is extraordinary. Wind the clock back 48 hours and it was conceivable to believe that the majority of US shows over the next few months might go ahead fairly normally. It's now equally conceivable to believe that there might be almost none at all! Is it likely that big civilian shows like Fort ...

Re: Corona virus, Covid-19 and airshows?

More positive news on our side of the pond - UK Airshow Review published a statement from the Shuttleworth Collection today, the key section reads: We are planning to hold all our air shows and this won’t change unless there is a clear direction from Government. Some of our staff and volunteers may ...

Re: Corona virus, Covid-19 and airshows?

This is indeed very disappointing and it is now official. Luckily it doesn't really speak for airshows more generally as the Aqaba Airshow had the purpose of attracting tourists and it's being cancelled because teams and visitors will struggle to get to Aqaba, rather than because of the risk of vir...

Re: Corona virus, Covid-19 and airshows?

It's not just the German show that's been called off - China, being much worse affected, has cancelled a lot of events, including next month's Zhengzhou Airshow, which I would otherwise have attended. I imagine it's a massive headache for one European team in particular, who ferried out their jets s...
