Re: Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show 2023
I'm going through my own images. My one disappointment with the show was the very low (for this area) humidity, which resulted in almost no vapor from the jets, even in the 700+ mph passes. Nothing except for wisps from the F-35, and the normal trails from the strakes on the F-16 and the F-18s, and ...

Re: Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show 2023
I saw "bomb squad" mentioned in the list of performers, but the image showed the aircraft, thus the confusion. Still glad to see even that, as they haven't had any pyro there for several years now! (Well, except when a skydiver's boot sparkler lit the grass on fire in the 2017 night show.....

Re: Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show 2023
I see Tora! Tora! Tora! listed on the performers page, but I don't see the event listed on any of the Tora! Tora! Tora! pages I can find. I hope this is for real! I've seen them twice, and it's been the only times I've seen a P-39 or a P-40 flying, not to mention the Japanese aircraft such as the Ka...

Re: Warbird News
Seeing that Helldiver a few posts back reminded me of seeing this a few years ago. This was taken in 2015 from the bus on the backlot tour at the naval Aviation Museum at Pensacola NAS. I had no idea what it was at the time, but later found that the Navy actually installed floats on a Helldiver as a...

Re: Canadian International Air Show 2023
I just saw a video shot from well to the right of the show, with an apparent sonic boom during the sneak pass. NOT my video, just something that caught my eye by its title "Sneak pass shock wave sound." # 5 is approaching from nearly dead ahead, starts his climb and hard right turn, as we ...

Re: Spotting at Eglin AFB?
If your lens is long enough, you should try the national seashore area between Destin and Ft. Walton Beach on US 98. Plenty of parking off of the highway, and the base is directly across the water from the island you're on while you're there. Another possibility is the Maxwell-Gunter Midbay Shores R...

Re: Evening/Night Shots
Turn off auto-focus and prefocus on something just a bit farther than the showline to take advantage of the hyperfocal distance. In the dark you'll never get autofocus to work! Actually, don't auto- anything . Set your ISO as high as you can stand it with what your camera produces noise-wise. You'll...

Re: Gulf Coast Salute 2024
Well, it's just been announced locally that the show is being moved out to the beach, turning the crowd around almost 180 degrees, and facing the sun the entire day... I live here and I'm not sure I'm interested any more... but if I could get on a boat outside the show line, that would be a maybe. [...

Re: Airshow binocular photos
This appears to be a pretty good binocular, as I don't see any of the chromatic aberration I see with a lot of things shot through prisms. My own binoculars are almost useless for this, as I get the colored edges around everything. By the way, the process of shooting through binoculars is called dig...

Re: Wings Over Homestead 2023
Well, the post that I said I have no idea what he's saying is at least three sentences, with no punctuation at all, so I don't know what adjectives go with what nouns, or even where the sentence breaks are. And then being told I can't read just pisses me off. Learn to freaking WRITE! USE PUNCTUATION...
