A small plane crashed on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles this afternoon, closing the freeway in both directions. The plane experienced an engine failure on takeoff, and touched down on the highway before smashing into the divider. The plane was later identified as an AT-6 Texan from the Condor Squadr...

Re: Fatal Crash During Culpeper Air Fest Night Show
Ouch. I met them a couple of times in 2017, they were one of the few performers to actually get in the photo pit with people after the performance. I've read that the show will go on as scheduled this weekend. I think it's better to perform in honor of the fallen pilot than to cancel the whole weeke...

Re: F-35B crashed near MCAS Beaufort
The entire fleet of F-35s (Air Force, Marjnes, and Navy) has been grounded following the crash. They will be inspecting fuel hoses in the engines that they suspect to be the cause of the crash. https://www.foxnews.com/us/entire-f-35-stealth-fighter-jet-fleet-grounded-by-military-after-crash-in-septe...

F-35B crashed near MCAS Beaufort
A Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II has crashed in Beaufort County, South Carolina. The aircraft belonged to VMFAT-501 stationed at MCAS Beaufort. While the platofrom has had other issues, this is the first time an F-35 has crashed. The pilot was able to eject, and is being evaluated. Few details are ...

Re: 2018 USAF F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team Schedule
The F-22 team just posted that they are not able to perform at Miramar this weekend due to operational requirements. Sounds like they can't get the jets to do it I'm guessing. I remember reading that a significant portion of the fleet is constantly on standby/forward deployment, and the limited fle...

Air Force T-X Contract Winner
We finally have an announcement on the next trainer aircraft for the United States Air Force. And it's not the T-50! The contract has been awarded to Boeing and Saab for their twin-stabilizer jet trainer (designated T-X). This comes as the 3rd recent contract win for Boeing, following the MQ-25 and ...

Re: Wings Over Myrtle Beach 2019 Canceled
Unfortunate, hopefully this doesn't doom any future air show plans. We'll have to see. Maybe the Thunderbirds will land something else close by. It would be so nice if SJ pushed their show back to that weekend so I didn't have to travel there and Beaufort back to back
