Re: What Photo/Video Gear Do You Use?

I just picked up a factory refurb Canon 80D for the new season! It replaces my 7D, which started to show its age. I'm excited about the improved ISO performance and most of all the extra dynamic range!

My favorite!

One tip for you. If you can (not sure how your camera works), set it to manual focus at/near infinity. I use a far away tree line. That way it won't start hunting back and forth when you zoom out.

Re: Thunder Over Louisville 2018

I thought these Marine helos were one of the coolest parts of the show, but Youtube viewers weren't too hot on them. I do wish they would have hovered low over the water like back in the day!

Re: Airshow Photography

I really do appreciate the all the help you’ve given my Ryan! I’m gonna start with the first option that you listed and then eventually work my way into the bigger lenses and things like that. Awesome! Looks like I may have typoed the link or they changed things around. Here's the bundle I meant, w...

Re: WC-130 crash in Savannah, Georgia

There is video of the crash from a nearby security camera, it was a classic spin/stall at low altitude. Gut-wrenching to watch. I am also shocked that no one else on the ground was involved! https://www.firstcoastnews.com/mobile/article/news/watch-video-captures-fatal-military-plane-crash-in-savanna...

Re: Gathering of B-17s 2018 - Urbana/Dayton, OH

I just stumbled across this post that says three B-17s, six P-51s, and three trainers will be participating in the Memphis Belle debut (and presumably the gathering in Urbana beforehand). Partial excerpt: The B-17 Movie Memphis Belle will join B-17G Yankee Lady and B-17G Aluminum Overcast, along wit...

Re: Airshow Photography

Ok, that does help narrow it down a bit. I don't think a long lens is too big a burden to get started. I would suggest you get the below T5 bundle from the Canon factory refurb store. It's got a somewhat basic body, a static lens, and a zoom lens for just $300. It will give you a great intro to shoo...
