So my all time favorite type of pic while shooting a show is the close-up. Check out the pilots in action while flying. Share your favorites the pilots doing their thing.

What lens is that Dave? The 600 we rent at Oshkosh some years could come in handy for these kind of shots!

The above shots were just the 100-400L.
You are right though the 500 is great for this. Back in the day when Canon was there we had an 800mm we could borrow.
Got this with the 800 I think.

This isn't so much a cockpit closeup, but you can see in the wingman what it takes to fly formation; he's looking at nothing but the leader's airplane, and holding his relative position. (Team Redline)

Sorry to bring back an old thread but I thought this one was too perfect not to share in this one. This is from back at the 2021 Atlanta Airshow in Peachtree City with Lt. Joe "811" Calvi performing the sneak pass in the F-35C. Once I zoomed in and brightened things up, I realized what was going on in the cockpit!
