Collings Foundation F-4D almost ready?

Post by Dan Gagnon » Wed Jun 07, 2017 5:10 pm

The Collings Foundation F-4D has been out of commission for quite a while, due to mechnical gremlins, but it looks like it could be back in the air soon!

Here is a post on the F-4/QF-4 Phantom Facebook fan page, about the possibility of the F-4 being back up in the air, as soon as the 16th of June!

It should be noted that it is rumoured that the Youngstown show might have the F-4 in attendance. We will definately keep our eyes open for further developments!

Dan, I signed up for the Airshow Insider emails from Youngstown Airshow and received an email stating the F-4D is scheduled to be there. Hopefully all of the maintenance can be completed and the Phantom will be ready for the appearance.

That's great news! Hopefully everything works out. It will be great to at least see an F-4 continue to grace the skies at airshows.

Guys,

I wish I had better news but we learned today that the F-4 has a bad cooler and will not be able to make it to the Youngstown show. Sorry. I was really looking forward to having that aircraft in the air for about 15 minutes each day as I know a lot of folks wanted to see that aircraft fly too!

We do however have one of the most jet centric shows of 2017 with Paul Woods F-86, ACEMAKER T-33, FighterJets T-37, FighterJets MiG-17, Warrior Aviation L-39 (2-ship Demo), and the USAF Thunderbirds.

Saturday also has the B-2.

It's a FREE airshow, so come on out to the 910th Airlift Wing in Vienna, OH for a great weekend Airshow!

Thanks for the updates David. Too bad about the mechanical gremlins....it'll get there someday.
Glad to have you aboard!

Thanks for the info David, glad to have your insights on here. Bummer but they are known as maintenance hogs for a reason. Hopefully it is back to regular flying soon!
